Christmas time is here

Merry Christmas Everyone!

December has been a busy month for us. I'm not sure what kept us busier: trying to get the shopping, baking, wrapping and all the other Christmas hoopla done or chasing after Andrew as he really experienced Christmas for the first time. Click on the link for a peek at the activity around our house leading up to Christmas. http://www.photodex.com/sharing/viewalbum.html?alb=136997

Don't forget to check back in a couple of days for Christmas pics!!!

Playing Catch Up

With all of our travels over the past month we have collected lots of pictures but had no time to share them. Today's catch up theme: Thanksgiving. Hopefully Andrew will take a good nap again tomorrow so that I can get more done. ENJOY!!!

Putting up the tree

Andrew and I decided to kill some time this afternoon since we are still stuck inside and put up the Christmas. I wasn't sure how it would go but thought it was worth a shot. I was pleasantly surprised and oh so proud of Andrew as he quietly sat next to me playing with his toys and drinking his milk. Every now and then he would stop to see what I was doing or give me a quick "hi". When I was done I said "Look at the tree Andrew". He queitly came over to see it, and added the first decoration to it--His cup. He then stepped back, looked at it, shook his head no while laughing, then grabbed his cup and went and put it in the sink. It was the sweetest and funniest little moment. It's neat to see him developing a sense of humor.

When he woke up from nap the lights were up on the tree, but we had to wait for daddy to come home before we could turn them on. Andrew's face lit up more than the tree did when we turned it on. He just kept saying WOW!!

He has done quite well with the tree (so far). Tomorrow's adventure~~adding ornaments!!!

When it rains it...Ices?

What a welcome home we have had over the past few days. This morning we woke up to ice blanketing our trees and powerlines and the glow of transformers popping around the neighborhood.

As the sun came up we realized that our crabapple tree out back had snapped and was lying on the powerline. YIKES!

Fortunately KCP&L showed up, chopped the tree branch and saved the day!

A style all his own!

We are peeking in to show off Andrew's latest fashion statement!
He got new slippers at the store today to keep his toes warm during the artic blast that is covering Kansas City!! But he thinks they are better as dancing shoes!!

There's no place like home?

Everyone remembers Dorothy saying there is no place like home and longing to return to Kansas right? Well, Marc and I think she is crazy!!!
This is what we returned home to on Friday night...

...and here we are 48 hours earlier. Where would you'd rather be?

We made it!!!

After a VERY long 2 day drive we are finally here in Florida and loving the warm weather!!!! We were so excited when we stopped near Ocala Florida, opened the car doors and felt the warm Florida air fill the the car. It made the previous 20 hours in the car all worth while. Andrew was a trooper and survived the trip with minimal fits of crying. Thank goodness for the Curious Buddies DVD that Aunt Lisa loaned us. You are our hero!!! It was a lovely 82 degrees today and Andrew spent the afternoon running around outside playing under the palm trees in the front yard. Tomorrow we are headed to the Venice beach to play in the sand and hunt for shells. Andrew should be in heaven!!

Art day at home

It was arts and crafts day for MOM's Club yesterday and I bravely, or perhaps foolishly volunteered our house for pumpkin painting. We had 8 kids and 7 moms crammed in the kitchen and dining room painting pumpkins, playing with playdough and they all had a great time. I felt like I was back at work again!!! Here are a couple of snapshots from the day. It was hard to get too many pictures though because Andrew was very focused on eating the paint and playdough!

Such a boy

Andrew has discovered the joy of playing with trucks and tractors this week. He's even making sound effects with them. Too Cute!!!!!

Andrew's Broom

One of Andrew's favorite activities is getting into the broom closet and getting out all of the swiffer's, mops etc. So when Andrew received some Halloween money from Grandma & Grandpa Hansen we knew just what to get with it...An Andrew sized broom. He loves it as you will see in the videos. It goes everywhere with him. By the way don't miss seeing Andrew newest talent in the first video: Dramatic Blinking. It's the funniest thing!

A new coat for Andrew

What is it about new coats and shoes that kids love so much? We bought Andrew a new coat this weekend now that fall is finally on its way. We went for a walk Monday night and he got to wear it for the first time. You should have seen him strutting around here, showing it off. He is also very proud of his new found ability to sit down on a stair like mommy and daddy do. (You forget that even simple little things like that they have to learn). He loves to sit and swing his legs against the back of the step. So when he combined the new coat with sitting on the stairs he was just about to burst with pride! P.S. Check out his crazy "charlie brown" slippers

KC Gymnastics

We went to KC Gymnastics with MOM'S Club. The kids get the whole gymnastics place to themselves for 2 hours. After Andrew learned that we couldn't play with the computer and trash can behind the front desk he had a great time running around! He was asleep before I was out of the parking lot. Here's to a long nap!

What goes bump in the night?

  1. Acorns falling on the shed
  2. Toys flying out of Andrew's crib
  3. A deer crashing into my car

Marc was driving home from Target last night when a deer literally ran into the side of the car denting both doors. Can you believe those dents cost $2800 to fix? Thank goodness for insurance!!!!

Red Barn Farm

Sunday we went to the Red Barn Farm in Weston with my MOM's Club. It's a beautiful apple orchard with a giant pumpkin patch. Andrew got to go on a hayride, visit farm animals, and have a picnic. Of course his favorite activity was picking up the acorns all over the fields and running away from us!!

TV Time

After being trapped inside all day by the rain I needed a break, so Andrew got his first real taste of TV. He got to watch The Wiggles while having a snack and he loved it. Now as soon as he comes downstairs he grabs the remote and climbs on the sofa. Oh what a little TV monster I have created!!!
Isn't life great!

Exploring the Maze

The other day Andrew was sitting and playing (which is a very rare thing). Usually he is bouncing off the walls or furniture or Ellie. I decided to capture this calm sweet moment, because who knows when it will come again. You know Andrew though he had to get a little dancing in too.
